Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

REACHED CAPACITY - Please select a different workshop
Small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS) have proven to be a valuable asset for collecting data. They have the ability to cover large and remote areas, allow crews to spend less time in the field, have less impact on the environment, and as a result cut project costs. This workshop will serve as an introduction and focus on the following:
  • FAA Rules and Regulations for sUAS
  •  Sensor Technology (Imagery and LiDAR)
  •  Platform Types (Fixed-wing and Rotor)
  •  Field Demo (Data collection)
  •  Intro to Processing data
  •  Verifying data accuracies

Note that this workshop will be held off site from the rest of the conference. The attendees will meet with a Louisiana URISA member at the GIS-Pro registration desk by 8:00 am on Sunday, September 29 who will distribute street car passes and accompany participants to the nearest street car station and onward to New Orleans City Park. The lecture will be given at the Park's Administration Building, and the flying demo will be in the wildflower field next to the building. Please be sure to wear comfortable clothes that are weather appropriate. (Attendees will also be accompanied via streetcar back to the Hilton after the workshop.)

*This workshop requires an additional $25 fee to cover transportation and lunch and is limited to the first 30 individuals who register for the full conference and select this workshop.

Cost: One full-day or half-day workshop is included with full conference registration; $195 if only attending a workshop or adding a second half-day workshop
